My Review: I love the cover for this book as it’s something similar to artwork by my dad who has dementia has painted over the years. In fact he is the reason I felt compelled to read this book. William has a special bond with his mysterious grandmother whom he sadly has to leave behind when he at the age of 13 travels from Ireland to Philidelphia with his Ma, Pa and siblings one of which is his brother James whom he lovingly refers to as Bacon-Face. On the ship lots of things happen and he befriends Sailor Scuttle Butt Bill. It’s a hard hitting story that was a sad truth for early settlers and natives. Did you know that the Hudson Rivers name is Mahicanituck. It’s an easy flowing read thats sad and informative at the same time. Interestingly there were so many different nationalities seeking new lives whom William meets on his adventure that was put into motion by his parents.
Young Eagle Rising
